What is my IP? Public IP and WebRTC check

The public IP address websites see, its network and country, and whether WebRTC reveals another one.

Your IP address: 216.73.217.17 · AS16509 · Anthropic, PBC · US

Privacy: we do not store your IP address or the check result. The WebRTC check contacts Cloudflare’s public STUN server from your browser; network owners are looked up through Team Cymru’s IP-to-ASN service.

What we check

IP, network, country, WebRTC, time zone, IPv6

This page shows the public IP address websites see when you visit them, which network and country it belongs to, and whether your browser reveals a second public address through WebRTC (a common way a VPN or proxy is bypassed). The WebRTC check runs when you press the button; we do not store the result.

  • Public IP address. The address every website sees when you connect, IPv4 or IPv6.
  • Network and country. Which network (ASN) the address belongs to and where it is registered. A data-centre network is typical of a VPN or proxy. A home or mobile network does not tell us whether you use a VPN: some VPNs and proxies use residential addresses.
  • WebRTC. Browsers can reveal addresses for video calls. We ask your browser for its network candidates, without any permission prompt, camera or microphone, and compare them with the address above. A public address on another network means a website can learn it through WebRTC, even when a VPN hides the first one.
  • Time zone and language. If your browser’s time zone or language region differs from the IP’s country, websites can tell that the IP is not where you are. This is a weak signal, not proof.
  • IPv6. Which protocol your connection used, and whether WebRTC shows an IPv6 address on another network.

Example result

WebRTC reveals a second public address

Example — not your result. The addresses are documentation addresses (RFC 5737).

WebRTC reveals a second public address. Websites see 203.0.113.45 on a data-centre network (AS9009, M247) in the Netherlands — typical of a VPN. But your browser also revealed 198.51.100.7 on a home broadband network in Finland through WebRTC, so a website can learn that address too. Your browser time zone (Europe/Helsinki) differs from the IP’s country.

What to do: turn on the WebRTC protection setting in your VPN app or browser, or disable WebRTC, then run the check again.

What you pay for a VPN changes after the first term. These are our own dated checks of each provider’s price page: the first-term monthly equivalent, the renewal price, the money-back window and the device limit. Prices as shown in the United States on , in the currency of each page, not converted; each table is sorted by the first-term price, lowest first. Each name links to the full record with its source and history.

Questions

IPv4 and IPv6, ASN, IP location, hiding your IP

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.45; IPv6 addresses are longer and use colons, like 2001:db8::1. Many connections now use IPv6 when both your network and the website support it. A website sees one of them for each connection, so the address above can switch between the two from one visit to the next.

What is an ASN?

An autonomous system number (ASN) identifies one network on the internet: a broadband provider, a mobile operator, a cloud company or a VPN operator. Every public IP address is announced by a network, and its number and registered name show who runs the network your address belongs to, not who you are.

Why is the location of my IP wrong?

IP location comes from databases that map address blocks to places. They are usually right about the country and less precise about the city. Mobile networks, VPNs and proxies can place you far away, even in another country, because the address belongs to equipment that sits somewhere else.

How can I hide my IP address?

Websites see the address of the last network your traffic leaves from. A VPN or a proxy shows its address instead of yours, and the Tor Browser sends traffic through several relays. Turn on WebRTC protection as well, then run the check above to see which address websites now get.

Limits

no DNS resolver or VPN test
  • This page does not check which DNS resolver you use.
  • It is not a test of your VPN: we see only what a website sees over HTTPS and WebRTC, not the VPN’s encryption, logging or kill switch.
  • The country and city come from Cloudflare’s IP geolocation and the network registry; for VPN and mobile addresses they can be wrong by a whole country.
  • The network type (data centre, VPN operator or access provider) is our inference from the network number and the registry name; it is not a statement by your provider.
  • Modern browsers hide local network addresses behind random .local names; that is your browser protecting you, not a problem.
  • A full IPv6 test is not part of this page.
